Charlemont deed activity picks up, but sale prices stay largely hidden

Franklin County Registry of Deeds records show eight property transfers in Charlemont between Aug. 14 and Sept. 12, but only one, 14 East Hawley Road, disclosed a sale price: $200,000, which also serves as the period's price range and median. The other seven transfers, including two each on Maxwell Road and Main Street, listed no consideration amount. Several transfers involved banks, credit unions, a trust or a utility company as buyer or seller. With pricing data available for just one of eight deeds, the data does not support a determination of whether the local market was active or quiet this period.
